Public File

Community Radio stations such as Bro Radio are not required to publish a ‘Public’ File, however we have chosen to do so to show out commitment to locally produced programming, news and information for our listeners in the Vale of Glamorgan.

About Bro Radio:

Bro Radio is ‘The Station that loves the Vale’ and as such is highly focused on local issues, with a high level of community involvement.

Bro Radio is registered as a Community Interst Company, with all profits generated from station activities being used to fund training, volunteering and educational activities within our broadcast area.

We offer a free service to listeners to advertise their clubs and events each hour when we deliver our ‘What’s On’ guide and local charities, organisations and groups are able to promote their services on air free of charge through Geoff & Guests, which broadcasts weekday between 10am & 12pm and The Vale This Week which broadcasts on Wednesday evenings between 6pm & 7pm.

Frequent roadshows at major public events throughout the summer months also allow the radio station to have a public ‘face’ and engage with its audience.

News Output:

Each week Bro Radio’s volunteer news team develop, create and distribute 78 locally relevant news bulletins from our studio at YMCA Barry.

All local news bulletins are produced in house, with some audio content and interviews provided by students from the University of South Wales in Cardiff.

We ensure our listeners are kept up to date with accurate local news through partnerships we have forged with other media organisations, South Wales Police, South Wales Fire Service, the Vale of Glamorgan and local Town Councils, as well as a range of community based organisations.

On top of its News Coverage Bro Radio broadcasts six hours of Sport content every Saturday afternoon between 12pm & 6pm. The coverage aims to keep our listeners up to date with local sporting action, with regular live updates from Jenner Park during Barry Town United home fixtures.

In addition Bro Radio broadcasts national news 24 hours a day, which is provided by Radio News Hub, who are based in Yorkshire.
