Barry Amateur Radio Society voted Best Radio club in the UK

BARS has been voted the best small radio club in the UK (Under 25 members). The theme of the competition is Promoting Amateur Radio, and the judges wanted to learn about the special events that clubs has run and details of other outreach activity and initiatives that they have undertaken to promote the hobby of amateur radio.

BARS were presented with this prestigious award at Newark Amateur Radio Convention, in Nottinghamshire on Saturday 30th September. It consisted of a large Crystal engraved plaque together with a certificate and the “Star Prize” for the overall winner.

Then went on to beat all the clubs big or small in the UK and win the “Star Prize” of a new Icom 7300 transmitter valued at £1300, was like winning the “Grand Slam”. The boys returned to Wales singing.
