On Saturday 16th December Barry Round Table held an Elderly Peoples Dinner for those who spend Christmas alone or with little company.

The dinner, which was attended by 42 local people was funding by the generosity of the local people through a Local Giving Page and was supported by Barry Town Council, Barry Town Football Club, local supermarkets and a host of local businesses.

Those attending received a three course meal, live entertainment from a Vera Lynn tribute, a sing along with pupils of Cadoxton Primary School and Bingo hosted by Barry Round Table Members. Each Elderly person also received gifts donated by local supermarkets and businesses from Santa himself.

Current Barry Round Table Chairman Anthony Price said “During December we do a lot for the younger section of our community through our Barry Santa Sleigh and our members felt that we should give back to those Elderly people in the community who are the most lonely and vulnerable at Christmas.”

He continued to say “It was amazing to see so many people enjoy the dinner and we hope that we were able to create a Christmas to remember.”

Barry Round Table now aims to make the dinner an annual event. Anyone wishing to support the event in 2018 is asked to email barry@roundtable.org.uk
