Barry’s ‘Sausage Revolution’ to be officially opened by Selby brother

A new takeaway restaurant by Hot Diggidy Dog Creator Simon Llewellyn is set to be officially opened this Saturday (27th), by Barry champion boxers Lee and Andrew Selby.

The Sausage Revolution, which is located Atlantic Trading Estate across the road from The Hot Diggidy Factory has been open for a month in a bedding in basis, receiving great feedback from local people.

The restaurant and takeaway are loosely based on the Quick Service Restaurant theme, although in the bedding in period its become so popular that there is sometimes a 10-minute wait for food due to the units currently small kitchen.

The brand has been so popular, that plans are in place to expand the current kitchen to cope with demand.

Founder Simon Llewellyn said “I’m really pleased people of Barry and surrounding areas are embracing the new concept. We hope it will become a National Brand.”

The idea came about when Simon realised that although there were a large number of budge, chicken and pizza shops in Barry and across the country, there were no really great gourmet sausage snacks.

Simon and Hot Diggidy Dog hit the headlines in 2015 after he appeared on the BBC’s Dragons Den. Although he didn’t receive backing from the Dragons, his appearance opened up a host of opportunities.

Simon told Bro Radio “After Dragons Den we were asked to design and make an UBER hot sauce for one of Peter Jone’s investments to make a Hot Scotch Egg.”

“We started playing with the sauce in sausage meat and it worked really well! The idea was born, all we needed was a cool concept and destination where people could buy them. The Revolution was born!”

How will you begin your “Sausage Revolution”?

When asked about the public support for the idea so far, Simon said “The support and comments from folk have been amazing. We really couldn’t have asked for more!”

“I’m so pleased people are loving the concept, the diner and more so the food. Thank you all so much and may you enjoy the ever-growing menu”

Simon is hoping the first premises will be so successful that he will be able to open a Cardiff franchise before going UK wide with the Franchise.

The Sausage Revolution ‘Officially’ opens on Saturday 27th January at Midday, with Lee & Andrew Selby cutting the ribbon and opening the store.

Members of the public are invited to attend and join the ‘Revolution’
