Cardiff Dogs Home picks up Gold Award at RSPCA’s Animal Welfare Awards

South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies has congratulated the team at Cardiff Dogs Home – after picking up the Gold Award at RSPCA’s Animal Welfare Awards.

Last week – Mr Davies visited the Dogs Home – to meet manager Maria Bailie – and RSPCA Wales Public Affair Manager Paul Smith.

The Home is responsible for caring for stray and abandoned dogs in Cardiff and the Eastern Vale – including Barry and Penarth.

With the festive period approaching – the RSPCA are asking families to think carefully before taking on the commitment of having a dog – warning of the many dogs who end up abandoned in the new year.

Mr Davies said, “It was a pleasure to visit Cardiff Dogs Home – and congratulate the team on their well-deserved award.

“They do a lot of important work looking after stray and abandoned dogs in Cardiff and the Vale – as well as working to find them loving homes.

“It may sound like a cliché – but as we approach the festive period we must all remember that a dog is for life and not just for Christmas.”
