Council announces closure of Ice Central this weekend

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has today announced that Ice Central will close on Sunday 17th December, 15 days earlier than anticipated.

The Independent event Operator, 11th Hour events choose to close the attraction early due to low skater numbers. The attraction opened on Saturday 25 November and had been contracted until 17 December by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The operator had planned to extend the presence by a further two weeks but has decided to close after the original contracted term, much to the disappointment of the Council. This was a commercial decision prompted by low skater numbers.
Advanced bookings made for dates after 17 December will be refunded automatically within the next five working days.
Competition winners who have not yet redeemed their free tickets can do so this weekend, or alternatively will be offered tickets at an alternative rink managed by 11th Hour.

  1. Such a shame. Was good fun and good priced. People moan there is nothing to do in barry then don’t support it when there is. They were amazing with my niece who is in a wheel chair. Hope this doesn’t stop them coming back next year

  2. Wouldn’t it have been better to wait until the children had finished school for the Christmas holiday before opening the rink? There’s far too much going on at this time with school nativities, Xmas parties, visits to Santa etc.
