Discover something new in Barry Libary during National Libraries Week

Barry Library is inviting people of all ages to take part in a week of events as they mark National Libraries Week.

This year’s theme is ‘Discover Something New’ and activities from children’s games to Tai Chi will take place from Monday 9 October.

There are more than 250 public libraries service points open in Wales, and in 2016, 10.8 million books were borrowed from libraries across the country.

The programme at Barry Library includes:

Monday 9 October

Digital Drop-In – 10am – 12pm

Bounce and Rhyme – 11 – 11.30am

Rhyme & Sign – 9.34 – 10.15am and 2 – 2.30pm

Dungeons and Dragons – 4 – 6pm

SRC Certificate Presentation 4 – 5pm

 

Tuesday 10 October

Knit and Knatter – 9.30am – 12.30pm

Baby Massage – 10 – 11am

Amser Stori – 10am – 10.30am

 

Wednesday 11 October

Bounce and Rhyme – 11 – 11.30am

Tai Chi/LIFT session – 2 – 4pm

 

Thursday 12 October

Colouring Club – 1.30 – 3.30pm

 

Friday 13 October 

Shared Reading Group – 1 – 3pm

Seasonal Greeting card making – 3 – 5pm

 

Saturday 14 October

Caffi Cymraeg – 9.30 – 12.30

Pedal Emporium Paint Spinning – 12.30 – 3.30pm

 

Cabinet Member for Learning and Culture, Cllr Bob Penrose, said: “It’s wonderful to see Barry Library celebrate National Libraries Week with such a wide variety of activities on offer.

“I hope as many people as possible can take part and I hope this encourages more people to become involved in libraries across the Vale.”

Senior Librarian, Melanie Weeks said: “We have a great programme of activities during Libraries Week to help people to make the most of Barry Library. The library has some really great facilities and sessions on offer all year round, from Digital Drop-Ins to Colouring Clubs to a pedal painting workshop. Everyone is welcome and we’ll be delighted to welcome our users and new faces for Libraries Week.”
