MackEvents, the company behind GlastonBarry has announced a new event which is aimed at the whole family.
GlastonBarry which has been a huge success over the past 5 years, has grown from a one day 500 capacity event to a weekend event attracting around 5000 guests per day, with people now travelling from all over the UK and beyond to attend the event.
This year the team will be running a separate music festival aimed at a family audience. GlastonBARRY Juniors will feature three tributes to popular acts -Ed Sheeran, Little Mix and Rihanna with local support and special guests including your favourite super heroes and princesses.
When asked why they decided to launch GlastonBarry Juniors, Mack Events Co-founder Matt Blumberg said "We decided to launch GlastonBARRY Juniors because every year we have a lot of requests from people who would like to bring their children to GlastonBARRY, so we thought we would try to give that family audience an event that they could enjoy together."
"We’ve tried to pick contemporary acts that appeal to both children and their parents, and we will try to give the youngsters a taste of what GlastonBARRY festival is all about."
"Also we are very keen to help provide a platform for young local talented musicians, so we will also be running a talent contest over the next few months to find an opening act for the festival, and the lucky winner will get to perform in the big top in front of thousands of people. "
"The event will have a similar feel to GlastonBARRY. A friendly laid back atmosphere where people can come and enjoy some great music, in an amazing setting, but with a few tweaks to appeal to the youngsters as we will also have some special guests in and around the site, some of your favourite superheroes, princesses and other character’s will be attending!"
"This year is the first year, but we hope that GlastonBARRY Juniors will become just as popular as GlastonBARRY over the next few years."
As part of the event, Mack Events will also be offering an opening slot available for a local act aged (7-11), who will be selected from a talent competition on the 22nd of June at St Cyres School, which they and hope will gain the support of local primary schools in helping to find some young local singers and dancers that would like to audition for the talent competition.
All entrants to the talent competition will receive a family pass to GlastonBARRY Juniors in the summer (admits 4 guests), with the winner of the talent competition receiving a prize pack including some tickets to the event and some other goodies, but also will get a chance to open the show, singing on the main stage in our 6000 capacity big top!
GlastonBARRY Juniors will take place on Friday the 26thJuly from 4 pm – 8.30pm at Romilly Park, Barry and is sponsored by Ruckleys - the one stop children's destination store.
Tickets are £15 each (admits one child or one adult) and will also offer a special family ticket for £45 (2 adults plus 2 children or 1 adult plus 3 children). Everyone under 18 has to be accompanied by an adult.
