Llantwit Major’s old phone box has a new purpose

The old phone box in the Square, Llantwit Major, was to be decommissioned by BT and it looked as Llantwit Major would lose the iconic sight from the Old Town, a council spokesperson reports.

With the support of ‘Community Heartbeat’, Llantwit Major Town Council has managed to preserve the phone box, and a defibrillator has been installed inside, which is accessible to the public 24-hours a day.

Community Heartbeat, in conjuction with The Collective Dairy, arranged sponsorship with AkzoNobel, who donated free pillar box red and gold paint to the town council to to restore the phone box to its former glory.

The Community Heartbeat Project is ran in conjunction with The Collective Dairy by Sara, who fundraised in memory of her husband Mike (they owned the company and he passed away to cardiac arrest)’.

The town council wish to thank both Community Heartbeat and AkzoNobel for their support in the completion of this community project for Llantwit Major.
