Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale has been supporting older people in its local communities for over 40 years. Whether it be support with making difficult choices such as moving into a care home, assistance accessing benefit entitlements, advocacy representation in care homes, hospitals or the wider community, access to befriending schemes, help with shopping and getting to appointments or supporting participation in groups and activities to reduce social isolation… Age Connects has always been well and truly at the heart of communities in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
In these particularly uncertain times and with funding of the charity’s vital services being drastically cut, Age Connects is reaching out to local businesses to urge them to keep whatever charitable support they have available within the local community where it can make an immediate and noticeable difference to the lives of older and vulnerable loved ones, friends and neighbours.
Jeff Hawkins, CEO Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale explains: “I urge you to keep your support local. One of the reasons it's so rewarding for businesses and people to help the communities around them is that the results are so visible and significant. There's something special about knowing that your donation and time have made a difference that you can actually see and has made an almighty impact to a small local charity such as ours”.
With this message in mind, Age Connects Cardiff and the Vale is encouraging local businesses to support its forthcoming Christmas Gala Dinner, either through purchase of tickets or the donation of auction or raffle prizes.
The Christmas Gala Dinner is being held at the Copthorne Hotel, Cardiff on
29th November 2019. The ticket price of £50.00 per person includes a welcome drink, three course meal, half bottle of wine, DJ, exclusive gift and auction. A discount is available for group bookings.
Karen Steele, Marketing and Partnerships Manager stresses: “the work of Age Connects, supporting lonely and vulnerable older people, is at risk from ongoing funding cuts. We are a passionate team who put people at the heart of everything we do. If you and your organisation feel as passionately about supporting local older people, book tickets and join us for a fun filled evening and help us spread some festive cheer in our local communities this Christmas. We can offer a discount for a group booking and it would be a great way to meet you and discus ways we may be able to work together to support local older people. We look forward to seeing you there.’
