A man has died after being hit by a vehicle on the M4

A pedestrian has died after an early morning multi-vehicle crash on the M4.

The westbound side of the Brynglas Tunnels is closed as police investigate.

Gwent Police has said that they had reports at around 5.10am of a multi-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

A spokeswoman said: “Sadly, we can confirm a person has been found deceased at the scene.”

Two people were also taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the westbound carriageway is currently closed whilst emergency services attend to the scene.

A diversion is in place, officers ask drivers to please avoid the area if possible.
