On Saturday 15th December Barry Round Table held its annual Elderly Peoples dinner, to support those in our communities who are most at risk of being social isolated this Christmas.
The dinner, which was held at Barry Town United’s Jenner Suite saw 65 elderly people enjoy a three course meal supplied by the 4th Horseshoe Group, along with entertainment by Vera Lynn tribute act Lisa Kondova, local singer Ben Dain-Smith and former Round Table member Dave Beadle.
Each guest enjoyed Christmas Cake supplied by Francesca’s Cakes, Mince Pies supplied by Food For Thought Delicatessen and a bag of Christmas gifts which had been supplied by a host of local shops, businesses and supermarkets.
Barry Round Table Chairman Barrie Dyer said “Our Elderly Peoples Dinner is the highlight of my year. It’s wonderful to see so many of our guests enjoying themselves and not having to worry about a thing”
“We know that many live alone and can spend much of Christmas by themselves, so its brilliant for us to be able to bring them together with other elderly people to celebrate Christmas as it should be”
“On Behalf of Barry Round Table I’d like to thank Co-Op Barry members for their donations through membership cards, as well as the Richard from the 4th Horsehoe Group who saved the event, stepping in just two days before when another caterer pulled out, along with all of the other local businesses who continue to support us throughout the year”.
Barry Round Table continue to be out with Santa right up until Christmas, with your final chance to see him before the big night being at the Tesco Superstore on Port Road in Barry on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd December from 10:30am – 4:00pm.
