An array of 3,000 digitalised images is on display at Barry’s Art Central as part of the ‘Peoples Collection Wales’.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Barry Library and Art Central Gallery in Kings Square, ‘Picture the Vale –Past Times’ is made up of images from library archives and from residents living across the Vale.

A team of volunteers helped catalogue the images, which will be part of a collection held at the National Library in Aberystwyth. The aim is to increase Wales’ digital footprint by converting the images online.

The gallery includes elephants bathing at Watchtower Bay, town centres in black and white and school class photo

A ‘memory wall’ has also been made, enabling people to share their own memories of living in the Vale.

The exhibition is open from 9.30 – 4.30pm and will run until Saturday 6 January.
