Three members of the Vale Youth Cabinet are standing in the 2017 Youth Mayor Elections.
The elections are taking place from 9 Monday October – 13 Friday October during Local Democracy Week.
This will mean that young people across the Vale will have the opportunity to vote for their fourth Youth Mayor. The three members standing for this year’s election are; Daley Chapman, 16 years old from Barry Comprehensive, Ushenka Rajapakse, 15 years old from Cowbridge Comprehensive, and Niclas Want, 18 years old from Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg.
The aim of the election is to make young people more aware of their local council and encouraging them to have a say about their local communities. Voting for a Youth Mayor who will be a voice for young people is one way of doing this.
Young people aged 11-25 are eligible to vote and elections will be taking place across the Vale in schools, youth clubs and youth organisations all week.
