About Gareth Knight:
I have been working continuously in radio for over 8 years, having previously started in hospital radio at the age of 16 & then spending 5 years at a Cardiff call centre where I answered directory enquiry calls & dealt with mobile phone registrations. I have done various types of broadcasting, from magazine-style talk shows to rock shows, (it’s certainly been varied!) previously working at RNIB’s Insight Radio (Now Connect Radio) & Mountain FM in Ebbw Vale.
About your show:
I wake the Vale up each weekday morning with the latest travel, sport & showbiz. After 9 am it’s the ‘Triple Decade’, 3 Songs each from a different decade.
On Saturday afternoon with Craig Parry we bring you the latest sporting action, be it football, rugby, cricket & F1 (that’s just the ones of the top of my head!

What is your favourite place in the Vale & why?:
I feel very lucky to live in the Vale as there are a lot of great places to go for a walk as we have many parks & green spaces.
I also love being by the sea & enjoy taking a walk over the Island or at Penarth seafront.
What are your top three favourite songs?:
Always a difficult question this & it every time I think about it, it changes! ( I could probably list at least a 100) But here goes.
- Derek & The Dominoes – Layla
- Oasis – Whatever
- Paloma Faith – Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful
Why do you volunteer for Bro Radio?:
Ever since I was in my early teens I have loved listening to the radio (although I was aware of radio much earlier than that as my parents have always been avid listeners) & thought what a great thing it would be to be on air (though never thought then I would get to do it) so I feel very fortunate that I am part of the station.
What do you love about being part of the Bro Radio Team/being on air?:
It’s great being at a radio station that broadcasts in the area that I live, it means on Breakfast I can bring the Vale the traffic information they need or when the weather is bad the information they need such as school closures & changes to refuse collections etc. It’s also great that we get to meet the people who listen to the many events we are involved in each year.
