Date: Friday 7th December (2018) 19.45

Venue: Jenner Park, Barry

Barry Town will play Penybont in the third round of the Welsh Cup. The last time Barry won this competition was back in the 2002/03 season.

Barry first won the trophy in 1955, beating Chester City in a replay of the final 4-3.

Penybont being fairly new are yet to win the Welsh Cup. The furthest they reached was round 4 in the 2016/17. Penybont are fairly new having only formed in 2013. They currently play in Welsh Football League Division One which is the league below Barry.

Gavin Chesterfield and his team are flying in the Welsh Premier League as they sit second in the league just a point off the top of the table. Penybont will be up against it, especially being away from home.

Penybont however, are unbeaten so far in their season. They currently sit in second as well, they do however have four games in hand over first place to gain just a point to go top. Penybont are hopeful of gaining promotion which would see them play Barry a lot more.

Penybont defeated Pantge 3-1 away from home in the first round and Aberbargoed Buds 2-0 away in the second round. Barry Town will play their first game in the cup as they in the top division earning them a entrance in the third round.

Penybont, Marcus Griffiths, Last seasons top goalscorer for Penybont. They will surely look to him to score against Barry.
