Join the Cowbridge Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care group for an evening of Italian wine tasting hosted by Master of Wine, Richard Ballantyne, at The Noble Grape on Thursday 22 March to raise funds for Wales’ leading cancer charity.

Richard is one of only 329 Masters of Wine in the UK and he recently opened his own wine shop on the High Street.

Richard said, “Italian wine is my passion and my mum was a big supporter of Tenovus Cancer Care, so when the Friends asked me to host an evening I was only too glad to help. I will give a short talk on up and coming Italian wines, advising complimentary wine to go with certain food, and will be on hand to offer advice if anyone would like to buy.”

Meryl Merritt, Cowbridge Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care said, “We thought our fantastic town would want to help raise vital funds to support Tenovus Cancer Care research and help keep the charity’s services running. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the charity and have fun with a new Friends group.”

Tenovus Cancer Care brings treatment, emotional support and practical advice to where it matters most; the heart of the community. Thanks to groups like Cowbridge, based across Wales, the charity can continue to help and support those affected by cancer when they need it most.

“We plan to hold a few events throughout the year to support the charity. We will be organising a bus trips to Bicester and Aberglasney Gardens in the summer and hopefully we will hold a Lovelight Concert, to remember those we have lost to cancer in Cowbridge during the Christmas period,” said Gail Foley from Cowbridge Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care.

Annie Griffiths Jones is a member of Cowbridge Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care and volunteers in the charity’s local shop, she added, “People are very generous in their support of the shop, both in donating goods and buying. The Cowbridge shop is one of the top performing Tenovus Cancer Care shops in Wales and England, and we are proud of the prime position we hold in the town, and in people’s hearts.”

Tickets for the evening cost £10, which includes Italian nibbles, and are available from Cowbridge Tenovus Cancer Care shop or from Richard at The Noble Grape in Cowbridge. But hurry – they are limited and likely to sell out!
