Bro Radio Academy - Youth Courses
Since 2022 we've been busy developing courses for young people, to help build their confidence, their communication skills and also to give them the opportunity to have their voices heard on the radio across the Vale of Glamorgan!
Now we're offering the chance to introduce even more young people (11-18) to the world of radio via the Bro Radio Academy, the training and development arm of Bro Radio (a not-for-profit community interest company) which delivers a local radio station for local people, run by local people.
We're have purpose-built radio studios in YMCA Barry and The Old School in Llantwit Major, working right across the Vale of Glamorgan.
We're providing opportunities for youngsters to create their own content whilst also completing a recognised Agored Cymru "Preparing to Present Radio Broadcasting" qualification.
Supported by the Vale Youth Service, the course we have runs for 12 weeks and offers a mix of classroom based learning and practical studio sessions. They are run by knowledgeable radio people, with years of hands-on experience working in professional media environments.
One course will take place on a Tuesday 6-8pm at our studios in Llantwit Major, the other one on a Thursday 6-8pm at our Barry Studios
