The owners of Awesome Wales have opened their second Zero Waste shop in Cowbridge, less than 18 months after opening their first store in Barry.
Awesome Wales, the Vale's first zero waste shop opened in July 2019 and now the team behind the store have opened their second store on the High Street in Cowbridge.
The brand aims to "help you to protect the environment, save money and eat more healthily, all while doing your weekly shop." and has proven popular since it opened on Holton Road in Barry.
Branded as "Awesome Too" - business owners Amy and Stuart say they are expanding into the Town to continue helping residents across the Vale to shop plastic-free - employing two new staff members in the process.
Speaking to Bro Radio following the launch on Monday, Amy and Stuart said "We can’t wait to open the doors at Awesome Too and welcome a whole new customer base to the concept of Zero Waste Shopping."
"The support we have received from customers in our Barry branch gave us the confidence to expand, even during these uncertain times."
"Realising how important our small coffee shop has become to a large number of the Barry community, both individuals and groups, made it an easy choice to utilise a part of the Cowbridge store as a Zero Waste coffee shop too."
"Hopefully it will have the same impact on the local community as the Barry one, selling good quality coffee from Uncommon Ground along with pastries and cakes from local suppliers and giving people a comfortable, safe space to relax."
"We have expanded our range in Cowbridge to include more gift items and will eventually be offering ethical clothing for adults and children. It’s an exciting time for us and we can’t wait!"
Residents are invited to refill their own containers with wholefoods, herbs and spices, cleaning products and toiletries, saving money against the supermarket equivalent as you're not paying for the packaging, branding or marketing.
The new store stocks over 1,000 products including brand new ranges from Turtledove children's clothing, Banjara bags, ethically sourced stuffed toys and Cheeky wipes period pants.
