Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has received a donation of 20 new iPads from Barclays to support the health and wellbeing of its staff.
The health board’s Employee Health and Wellbeing Service will use the tablets to implement a range of activities to support its employees, such as assisting those engaged in counselling and occupational health consultations to access online support and resources, and enabling staff otherwise unable to get online to attend virtual wellbeing activities such as wellbeing Q&A sessions.
Nicola Bevan, Head of Cardiff and Vale UHB’s Employee Health and Wellbeing Service, said: “I’d like to thank Barclays for this very generous donation of 20 iPads, which will enable us to offer a number of different services to support staff across Cardiff and Vale UHB that previously weren’t possible.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the biggest challenges that the NHS has faced in its history, which we know has had a significant impact on staff right across the organisation.
“Now more than ever it is vital that we focus on the wellbeing of our staff as we recover from a tough six months and look towards the coming winter, and the introduction of these iPads will enhance the support that the Employee Health and Wellbeing Service here at Cardiff and Vale will be able to offer.”
With the flu season fast approaching, the health board will also be putting the iPads to use
As part of its annual influenza campaign. Vaccinators will use the devices to input real-time data into the Occupational Health database, enabling the team to avoid duplication, making the data entry more efficient.
Ashley Lawson, Barclays Business Development Manager for South Wales “We already had some existing contacts within the local NHS Trusts and Health Boards across South Wales and this just seemed a very simple and practical way to say thank you and support the staff who have been working so hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Every individual and every business has been impacted by this pandemic and we have introduced a number of measures to support both personal and business customers during these difficult times. For the full range of Barclays support measures please visit www.home.barclays/covid-support “
