Two new Barn Owl boxes have recently been installed by Rangers at Cosmeston Lakes Country Park to provide them with a safe and comfortable nest site.
In a post on their social media pages, the Vale Council confirmed the news regarding the wildlife installation adding that the new boxes are eco-friendly and should last a long time.
The boxes, made out of UV stable, 100% recycled plastic, provide a nest for the species and have an integrated hatch for easy cleaning, as well as a fenced landing and exercising perch for the nocturnal birds.
Rangers in Cosmeston will be monitoring the boxes in the hope that they are put to good use throughout the year.
The Barn Owl is a distinctive and much-loved countryside bird with its iconic heart-shaped face and pure white underparts.
