Both of the Barry Dock RNLI Lifeboats were launched yesterday evening to aid two swimmers who found themselves in difficulty in the water just off Watch House Point.
The RNLI Lifeboats attended the scene alongside the Barry Coastguard’s team and Rescue Helicopter at around 18:40, yesterday, with the swimmers managing to get themselves out of the water and onto some rocks where they found themselves stranded.
The Inshore Lifeboat were able to recover the individuals and transfer them to the All-Weather Lifeboat before they were taken to Barry Harbour and handed over to the local coastguard team.
The Inshore Lifeboat Helm, John McAlister said:
“If you are going swimming please check weather conditions and the tide and make sure you are visible to others .”
Within their post on social media sharing the news, Barry Dock RNLI reminded their followers to phone 999 and ask for the Coastguard should they see anyone in trouble on the coastline.
