A number of Barry retailers such as Holton Road's Tesco and Thompson Street's Home Bargains will be adopting an "Autism Hour" from the 5th - 12th October, as part of a nationwide initiative from the National Autistic Society.
The move aims to make the stores more comfortable for autistic customers and their families by making adjustments to the shopping experience, for example turning off the background music and dimming the lights.
The hour in question will vary throughout the week and from store to store, but you can find out more details, such as which stores are taking part, or even sign your own business up for the scheme by visiting the National Autistic Society website.
