Barry Town Council has elected a new Mayor to represent the town for 2021-22, taking over from Councilor Margaret Wilkinson who served the role for two years.
Councillor Steffan William, the new Mayor was born and bred in the town and was first elected to both the Barry Town and Vale of Glamorgan Councils in 1999.
Councillor William, represents the Baruc ward which extends from the Garden Suburb where he was born, all the way to the Island where he now lives with his wife Nicola and 3 children, Manon, Lleucu and Osian.
In his year as mayor, he aims to use the post to help boost the town’s economy as we come out of Covid and to increase people’s awareness of all that is happening in the community.
The Mayor is keen to speak to local people who wish to support his fundraising activities for his chosen charities and local businesses who wish to be visited or opened by the Mayor.
