Plans to improve access to both platforms at Barry Train station has been welcomed by campaigners and local MS Jane Hutt.
Work by Network Rail is due to start this summer, after the Ministry of Transport included in the station in a list of improvements back in April 2019.
The plans involve installing a new bridge with lifts at the station, enabling passengers who find the footbridge access a serious obstacle.
Vale of Glamorgan MS Jane Hutt said "It is wonderful news to see that work is going to begin shortly on improving accessibility with a new bridge and lifts at Barry Train Station, with the work due to be finished by next summer. Improving access at stations is vital and I welcome this positive response to my calls for an accessible replacement bridge at this busy station in Barry.”
