Bro Radio, the local radio station for the Vale of Glamorgan, is now available on 100.2fm in Llantwit Major and surrounding areas.
The work follows approval from OFCOM in November 2019 to increase its output on 98.1fm in Barry, which took place in January 2020.
Even better - as you drive around the Vale, thanks to some fancy technology your radio will switch between 98.1fm and 100.2fm, depending on which is the strongest signal available.
The expansion in Llantwit Major has been fast-tracked thanks to support from the Vale of Glamorgan Council/Vale Heroes Crisis Grant Fund, Glamorgan Voluntary Services and the National Lottery Fund, in an effort to support the community as it recovers following the Coronavirus pandemic.
Operations Director Nathan Spackman said:
"At the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, we were concerned that this work would have to be delayed, but thanks to support from the Vale of Glamorgan Council and National Lottery Fund, we are able to get the work underway in the near future."
"There couldn't be a better time than now for us to launch, with the stations online listening hours increasing by 40% during the first four months of 2020. As a community radio station, we are there for the communities we serve. Our team will be there to support local businesses, individuals and groups in getting back on their feet following the Coronavirus pandemic."
It is hoped the improvement and extension work will provide listeners in the majority of the Vale of Glamorgan with a strong FM signal for their local radio station.
