Bro Radio has unveiled a series of schedule changes ahead of a Love the Vale tour in partnership with Visit the Vale.
From Monday 7th June, Gareth Knight will return to the daytime schedule for the first time since an illness at the start of the year. Gareth will initially return from 1pm – 2pm, increasing to 12pm – 2pm once he is ready to do so.
On his return, Gareth Knight said “After spending some time focusing on my recovery, I’m pleased to be returning to the airwaves on weekdays. I’m looking forward to bringing great music and local information to lunchtimes in the Vale of Glamorgan.”
Paul ‘von’ Hillier will return to the weekday schedule, on air Monday and Tuesday from 2pm – 4pm, alongside his weekend morning programmes between 10am & 12pm. A new presenter will join the station to present the slot on Wednesday, whilst Mike Briscombe will present the slot on Thursday and Friday.
Patrick Downes, who has presented the Monday – Wednesday slot, will move to a new weekend programme from 5th June on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm – 2pm. Patrick will also lead the station “Love the Vale tour” in partnership with Visit the Vale, which will see his Saturday programme live from various tourist destinations across the Vale of Glamorgan during a seven week period over the summer holidays.
Nathan Spackman will continue on Vale Breakfast, weekdays from 6am, with Geoff Selby 10am – 12pm and Ben Dain-Smith on Vale Drive weekdays from 4pm – 7pm.
On the weekend, Vale Breakfast will be hosted by Samantha Campbell on Saturday from 7am, who recently returned to Bro Radio following maternity leave. Bro Radio’s youngest presenter Dafydd will continue to host the programme on a Sunday morning from 7am.
Operations Director Nathan Spackman said “Gareth Knight has been a fixture of Bro Radio for many years and I’m delighted to welcome him as he continues to recover. I’m also excited to hear Paul back on air regularly during the week, for the first time since March 2020.”
“With lockdown having a major impact on the local tourism industry, I can’t wait for us to be able to shout about the destinations right on our doorstep as we look to support the industry here in the Vale of Glamorgan.”
As the restrictions ease, the station is expecting further schedule changes as it welcomes more local people on air, with its management keen to hear from local people in the Llantwit Major area, where Bro Radio recently opened new studios to support volunteering in the rural Vale of Glamorgan.
Anyone interested in volunteering either in Llantwit Major or Barry, is invited to contact Bro Radio via email@example.com
