Cadstock Fundraiser set to Rock the Island in order to stay afloat

BY: Nathan Spackman

Cadstock is holding a fund-raising concert at 7pm on Saturday 1st February 2020 at the Barry Island Sports and Social Club that will bring a flavour of the much loved summer concert to the Island at a time of year when days and nights are still cold and bleak.

With local rock legends such as Stonehouse, Falling From Grace, Black Jam Circus and Second Chance there will be plenty of energy in the room. Entry is by ticket only and you can dance your pants off until midnight.

The event has been organised by the “Keep Cadstock Alive” Committee set up by Karl Webb who commented;

“We are very much looking forward to bringing an excellent line-up of local musical talent to the Barry Island Sports and Social Club on the 1st February. The concert is part of series of fundraisers that we are planning to help raise money to keep Cadstock running as the only free music concert of the Summer”

“Tickets are £6 each and can be bought at The Butterfly Collector, The Barry Music Shop, K Webb Events or via the Cadstock Facebook Page. They offer great value for over 4 hours of live rock music. We’ll be having a raffle and an auction on the night and we have some really wonderful prizes including signed sports memorabilia”

Jon Greatrex, Cadstock Organiser added; “We are trying to build on the work we did last summer with our range of 10 Year

Anniversary T-Shirts – half the proceeds of which went to “Keep Cadstock Alive”. We are living in ever more challenging times and unless we can raise most of the £15,000 it costs to put on our beloved Cadstock Free Music Festival we may have to make radical changes to the event in order to keep it going.”

“The people of Barry need to realise there is a genuine risk to Cadstock 2020 and those that love the event and want it to go from strength to strength need to support the Committee and events such as these as best they can. The days of being able to say Turn On, Tune In and Drop Out may have long since passed. Our message now is Buy a ticket, Wear a T-Shirt and dance those pants off!”

The Barry Island Sports and Social Club is easy to get to either by Bus or Train. Parking is limited. More details are available from Karl Webb Events on 07746 514901or via the Cadstock Facebook Page.
