Cardiff Airport, in conjunction with Age Cymru, is to host a coffee morning for older people from across the Vale of Glamorgan. The event, which is free of charge, will take place on Friday 13 December between 10.30am and 12.30pm. During the event there will be a taster session in Tai Chi, an increasingly popular activity amongst older people that helps improve balance, agility and flexibility. There will be information about Age Cymru’s campaign called Spread the Warmth which provides lots of good advice about how older people can make themselves more resilient to the challenges of winter by, for example, keeping their homes warm and eating a healthy diet. There will also be an opportunity to chat with Airport staff. And, as it's getting close to Christmas, there will be a gift for everyone at the event. Age Cymru’s Sarah Megson says: “We know that isolation and loneliness can be a huge problem amongst older people in Wales. Our research shows that more than 330,000 older people in Wales feel that a few minutes of conversation would make a huge difference to their week. Hosting a coffee morning is such a simple but effective way of connecting older people, helping them to make new friends and renew existing friendships.” If you'd like to come along, simply book your place by calling Age Cymru on 029 2043 1555 or emailing email@example.com.
