Cardiff Bus has announced a number of special services for the Summer season to help people get out and about in the warm weather. The services include an open-top bus to Penarth’s Pier, additional daily services to Cardiff Bay and the ever-popular Barry Island Flyer.
The special open-top bus services to the Penarth Pier begins on St Mary’s Street in Cardiff, passing through Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay and concluding outside the Pier Pavilion building, allowing passengers to reacquaint themselves with the historic pier area and, perhaps, take a walk around the nearby Alexandra Park.
Adult – £4 on the bus or £3.80 on our app
Under 16 or mytravelpass – £2.60 on the bus or £2.50 on our app
Group (up to 5 people) – £10
Family (up to 5 people, max 2 adults and minimum 1 child) £5.50 on weekends and school holidays or £8.60 during school term
Regular day-trippers to the Vale from around the Cardiff area will also be pleased as Cardiff Bus will be offering a 7-day-a-week service from St Mellons, Llanrumney and Tremorfa to Barry Island.
The Island is of course a a firm favourite of tourists from all across the UK with its beautiful sandy beaches, amusements and, of course, Gavin and Stacey memorabilia.

The bus company is also offering services to areas outside Cardiff and the Vale over the Summer, with trips to Rhondda Heritage Park, Caerphilly Castle and Castell Coch available for residents of the area.
