The Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) Combined Cadet Force (CCF) have organised a 12-hour sponsored “TAB” (Tactical Advance into Battle) relay event in full military patrol kit as a replacement for their traditional Poppy Appeal collection.
The group would traditionally organise their own Poppy Appeal collection for around the College's campuses, but are unable to do so this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The TAB is a physical exercise unique to the military, also known as loaded marching or speed marching. The purpose of the activity is to prepare soldiers for carrying heavy kit and equipment over long distances within a certain time frame. The activity will be taking place around Leckwith Sports Stadium.
The group have a GoFundMe page for the sponsored 12-hour TAB with a target fund of £250 which will be going to the Royal British Legion as part of the 2020 Poppy Appeal.
