UPDATE: The Vale of Glamorgan Council has confirmed that schools in the County will not be in a position to open to all pupils this week.
The announcement follows a meeting with all schools on Monday (4th January), with provisions set to be made for vulnerable children and the children of critical workers.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is expected to released a full statement on the matter shortly.
The announcements follows confirmation on Monday morning that the decision on whether schools will re-open will be made on an individual school basis, in consultation with the Council rather than a blanket approach.
In a post shared on social media on Monday, a spokesperson for the Council said "Schools will be closed to all learners on Monday 04 and Tuesday 05 January to allow schools to undertake necessary risk assessments."
"Decisions will be made on an individual school basis in consultation with the Council rather than a blanket approach."
Parents and pupils are being advised to follow individual school's social media accounts or website for the latest information.
The announcement comes after unions threatened legal action over concerns about the new coronavirus variant.
