The Hare & Hounds in Aberthin has been unveiled as best pub in Wales at the National Pub & Bar Awards.
The pub was named as the local winner for South Glamorgan back in July, taking the winning spot in the country at last nights final at 30 Euston Square in London.
In a tweet, the Pub & Bar Magazine said that the Hare & Hounds is "Already a fantastic venue, it’s successful lockdown bakery project (now a permanent feature) played a part in sealing the deal for its win this year!"
Described as a thriving local watering hole that has been keeping locals’ thirst at bay for over 300 years, the Hare & Hounds has continued doing that, under new ownership in 2015 by chef Tom Watts-Jones.
The pub serves high quality Vale of Glamorgan food, with a range of great ales, interesting wines and homemade seasonal drinks.
Following the win, Vale MP Alun Cairns said "Huge congratulations to The Hare & Hounds, Aberthin who have been recognised as the Best Pub in Wales!! Greatly deserved, they are a fantastic local pub with a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand - showing the tremendous quality of pubs we have in the Vale!"
