Llantwit Major’s Farnham’s Fish and Chips has been included in a list of the top 50 takeaways in the United Kingdom for 2020/21.
The restaurant, based in Boverton, took to social media to share the exciting news with their customers and supporters, saying that they were “super excited and proud” to be included in the Frymagazine.com list of the top 50 takeaways.
Established at the very end of the twentieth century, Fry Magazine is the leading trade publication for the fish and chips shop sector in the UK. Fry Magazine launched their first search for the top 50 fish and chips takeaway back in 2012, judging restaurants based on food quality, customer service and appearance. The competition has grown in stature since its inception and now has over 500 businesses vying to be included in the list.
In their post on social media, Farnham’s Fish and Chips said:
“We are thrilled to have won this award especially in such hard and trying times for all! We could not of done it without our amazing staff and of course our fabulous customers!”
The popular, Vale-based business also shared how the judging took place, explaining the process by saying:
“Following an unannounced mystery dining visit, shops and mobile units were marked on over 40 aspects of their business, from the quality of the food and customer service to their social media presence and their Covid safe practices. Once again, the food remained the main focus, with all outlets assessed on the flakiness of the fish, the crispness of the chips and the crunch of the batter, alongside value for money.”
Farnham’s customers have shared their congratulations on the businesses’ post, with one saying “You really ‘battered’ the opposition”.
