BY: Demie Haywood

Nightingale Community Gardens in Dinas Powys have become the proud owners of another Green Flag Community Award for 2019/2020 by Keep Wales Tidy.

The Community Gardens have raised more than £800 for the National Garden Scheme nursing charities.

At the peak of the gardens off-spring, it has donated to the local Foodbank any excess produce.

The garden have raised money through a multitude of entry fees, cake and tea sales as well as the sale of plants.

Co-founder and treasurer of the garden, Keith Hatton, said: “Six years ago, the gardens were created on a derelict, overgrown children’s play area with a grant from Tidy Towns Wales. We now have a range of growing plots for residents of all skill levels and abilities, three greenhouses and a community gathering area for sharing skills and workshops."
