A 22 year old from Barry is taking part in the Alzheimer's society memory walk on Saturday in honour of her grandad who has early onset dementia.
Jessica Lewis found out her grandad was diagnosed with dementia last year and is in his early stages, telling Bro Radio "It really is a horrible thing to have to deal with."
There are 850,00 people living with dementia in the United Kingdom, with numbers set to rise over 1 million by 2025.
Figures by Dementia Research show that someone is diagnosed every Three seconds, but the organisation admits that research on the condition is desperately underfunded.
The Cardiff Alzheimer's Memory Walk takes place this Saturday (5th October) at Coopers Field.
