More than 400 tests conducted at walk-through Testing Centre

More than 400 coronavirus tests were conducted at a temporary walk-through testing Centre in Barry, by the Cardiff and Vale Test, Trace, protect team.

The walk-through centre which opened last Thursday (5th November) has now closed, following a stint at Art Central Gallery in Barry Town Centre.

It was implemented in response to rapidly rising case numbers in the Vale of Glamorgan, with the latest 7 day rolling figures for the County showing 154 cases reported between the 2nd and 8th November.

Following the announcement of the testing centre, Cllr Neil Moore, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “The increasing rate of COVID-19 in the Vale is an obvious concern.”

“The Barry testing site has been established to make it as easy as possible for Vale residents to get tested.”

“That it has been established so rapidly is a credit to the effective partnership between Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board, Public Health Wales, and the Council.”
