Murder inquiry: Detectives renew appeal

Detectives have renewed their appeal for witnesses following the sudden death of a local man in Barry.

A 53 year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of murder, after a body was found at a property on West Walk at around 1am on Friday morning (3rd Sepember).

The man who died has not yet been formally identified.

Officers have remained at the scene of the discovery throughout the day.

A cordon has been placed around Knap Gardens, whilst police search the area as part of their enquires. An incident room has also been set up at Cardiff Central police station.

There's also been a fresh appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in and around West Walk over the past week.

Detective Superintendent Darren George, senior investigating officer, said there'll continue to be a ''considerable police presence'' in the area over the coming days.

He added: ''This a direct appeal to the local community who may be able offer information in relation to any suspicious activity in and around the West Walk area of Barry, particularly between the evening of Monday August 30th and the early of hours of this morning (Friday September 3rd), no matter how insignificant you believe any information may be, please contact the major incident room.''

Anyone with information should contact the Major Crime Team, based at Cardiff Central police station, on 101, quoting reference no. 2100309626.
