Over 100K In Cardiff & Vale Fully Vaccinated Against Covid-19

Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan University Health have taken to social media to share the news that over 100,000 people in the area have now received both doses of the Coronavirus vaccine, meaning they are fully vaccinated against the virus.

The milestone is equivalent to a quarter of the adult population in Cardiff and the Vale and comes in the same week as further Coronavirus restrictions were lifted on outdoor hospitality and other sectors.

Additionally, further easements are set to take place on May 3rd, a number of which at an earlier date than originally expected.

Currently, in Wales, the vaccination programme is focused on:

  • everyone aged 40 to 49
  • household contacts of severely immunosuppressed
  • anyone who, for whatever reason, was missed in priority groups 1-9, so that no one is left behind

As of yesterday, more than 70% of over 40s in Wales and a total of over 1,800,428 people in the country have received their first jab.
