In a post on social media, the RNLI said of the upcoming summer activity:
"This weekend is the start of peak season for the RNLI lifeguards. We have been busy behind the scenes training our team of lifeguards and equipping the beaches for what we think will be a very busy summer season."
"Please speak to the lifeguards on duty if you have any questions and remember - Choose to visit a lifeguarded beach, swim between the Red & Yellow Flags, if you see someone in difficulty call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
In another boost to beach safety, South Wales Police will be running a scheme dubbed "tag your tots", as part of the ongoing Operation Elstree, for parents and guardians at Whitmore Bay this summer.
The scheme is set to ensure that children who get separated from their parents or guardians are quickly and easily reunited, with police officers previously dealing with 13 incidences of this over just one weekend on the Island.
