The charity, "With Music In Mind", has been able to restart their singing and social groups for older adults in Penarth, with sessions taking place every Wednesday morning.
The group sessions, held at 10:00am to 12:00pm at St. Augustine’s Parish Hall, are informal and inclusive with the first session free for new members. Additionally, potential participants needn't worry if they feel their vocal abilities are not quite up to concert level as the sessions are focused on the joy and mood-boosting ability of singing.
With Music In Mind are a charity looking to tackle loneliness and social isolation in older people here in South Wales via singing, exercise and socialising within the community. Their way of running singing and social groups is based on research that demonstrates that informal group singing improves mood, wellbeing and memory and reduces stress, as well as reducing the risk of social isolation and loneliness.
Due to ongoing restrictions on the number of participants that can be at each group, pre-booking is essential for every participant. You can book a place at the next session via their website, here, via phone at 07500 776 295 or via email at email@example.com. Groups cost £5 following your first session and carers go free.
