Plaid Cymru select Richard Grigg as Vale of Glamorgan candidate

Dinas Powys Councillor Richard Grigg has been selected by local members as the Plaid Cymru candidate for next May’s Senedd elections.

Richard and his family have lived in Dinas Powys for fourteen years, and was first elected as a councillor for the Murch in 2008. He is the current chair of Dinas Powys Council.

He is a solicitor who has worked in the private and public sector for the past sixteen years. Before that, he produced sports programmes for the BBC.

Outside of work, Richard has been a school governor, as well as being a non-executive board member of Charter Housing Association, and a well-known Cardiff City and Wales football fan.

Plaid Cymru candidate Richard Grigg said:

“This year has shown the importance of having a good government in the Senedd which put Wales first.

“That’s why May’s Senedd elections are important for us to set out the sort of Wales we want to live in, after Covid-19 and Brexit.

“These have been tough times, but I believe that I have the experience to make a difference for the Vale of Glamorgan, and if elected will be a strong voice for the Vale and its many communities.

“I chose to raise my family here and play a role in the community, as chair of school governors and as a community councillor in Dinas Powys, and I want to see all parts of the Vale be successful.”

Nadine Marshall, Plaid Cymru’s Police and Crime Commissioner candidate, welcomed Richard’s selection.

“Richard has worked hard, earning the support of the local community in Dinas Powys.

“He is campaigning to tackle traffic issues across the Vale and has opposed excessive housing development. He is committed to improve educational standards in our schools.

“I’m pleased that he will be standing with me next May as part of the Plaid Cymru team here in the Vale of Glamorgan.”
