A man is being questioned after a serious assault outside a Porthcawl nightspot.
A 33 year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital, after he was attacked outside The Beachcomber on the Eastern Promenade in the early hours of Sunday (12th September)
It's believed a fight broke out between two groups of men near the venue, which is also known as the Cabin Bar.
Police say they were called to the scene at around 3.20am, but they believe the assault may have taken place earlier.
A 39 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains in custody.
The victim was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with a head injury. Both the suspect and the victim are believed to be local to the Porthcawl area.
Detectives say more arrests are anticipated and CCTV footage is being examined.
Inspector Jason McGill from South Wales Police said: ''This is a safe area and such violent behaviour will not be tolerated.''
''Officers are continuing with extensive enquiries into the circumstances of the incident and we are appealing for information.''
''In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed a fight between two groups of men on Eastern Promenade between 2am and 3.30am.''
''For anyone visiting Porthcawl, who is not familiar with the area, Eastern Promenade is the road by the edge of Coney Beach and the fair.''
