Community group, Rhoose Community Spirit has launched a competition to encourage residents to plant and decorate their gardens to spread community cheer throughout the summer months.
The competition, which opened for entries on April 30th, will be publicly judged via Facebook on August 21st, giving residents plenty of time to get their outdoor spaces in order and ready for appraisal.
Entry fee for the competition is £10 per garden, with proceeds going towards planters and hanging baskets by Fontygary Road shops.
In a post on their Facebook group, Samantha Campbell, the current leader of the Rhoose Community Spirit said of the competition:
“Why are we running this competition? To spread Community Spirit.
“After the last 12 months, it would be absolutely fantastic if we could show off gorgeous gardens across our village, bringing a smile to people’s faces.
“Another way we want to spread Community Spirit is by using the proceeds of this competition to add some flower boxes to the area outside the Spar. This area had been looked at by Replant Rhoose for trees, but unfortunately, it is unsuitable. I believe we could create an inviting and colourful area with the use of flower boxes. Also, we hope to work with local businesses to potentially add hanging baskets along Fontygary Road.”
