RNLI on the search for lifeguards to join its team this summer

Credit: RNLI Lifeguards South East Wales

The RNLI is looking for lifeguards to join its team, working at Whitmore Bay, Llantwit Major Beach, Southern Down, Ogmore and beaches across Bridgend this summer.

The temporary, seasonal or casual ad-hoc work runs of the summer of 2021, with applications open until 4th April 2021.

In 2019, the beach lifeguard team helped 29,334 people and attended 17,356 incidents, with the service covering 240 beaches around the UK and Channel Islands, with four covered in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Those interested in being an RNLI lifeguard are put on the front line of lifesaving. Our lifeguards:

  • help people stay safe while they enjoy the beach, sharing practical safety advice with beach goers to help prevent incidents before they happen
  • physically rescue anyone who does get into trouble.

The job will vary depending on where you're working.

From busy resort beaches like Whitmore Bay to semi-rural surf beaches, such as Southerndown - every beach has its own characteristics and challenges.
