The RNLI Penarth Lifeboat Station has created a "Friendship Bench" located near their base on Penarth Esplanade to encourage residents to have a chat with someone new and make friends.
The bench, painted in the RNLI's staple colour scheme of orange and blue, is there for those who may need someone to talk to when they're feeling lonely and in need of some company.
The project has been supported by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, who carried out the work refurbishing the bench.
In a post on social media, the RNLI Penarth Lifeboat Station said of the Friendship Bench:
"Sometimes we all need somebody to talk to - whether we're feeling lonely, need some support, or just want a friendly chat. The new Friendship Bench on the Esplanade has been created as a place to sit, have a chat and potentially make new friends.
"If you see somebody sitting on the bench, why not start a conversation and see how their day is going?
Thank you to Vale of Glamorgan Council for supporting the project and carrying out the work to refurbish the bench."
