FiverFest, a national celebration of independent shops and businesses is set to return to Penarth next week, with thirty-nine retailers from across the Town taking part.
The two-week campaign, which runs from 12th - 26th June, sees independent shops and cafes across the Town offer a £5 deal, to incentivise shoppers to return to the high street, which has been impacted hugely by the coronavirus pandemic.
The campaign is the idea of Totally Locally and is run twice a year, with over one hundred towns taking place across the United Kingdom.
A spokesperson for Totally Locally said "THIS JUNE, FIVER FEST is the chance for independent businesses to use their collective power to encourage people back to our town centres, to say thank you to customers who supported them during lockdown and to prove once again, that the small guys can compete with the online giants & the supermarkets. In fact they beat them hands down in many ways, but most of all their contribution to our local economies."
£5 deals in Penarth include a Curry night meal deal from AB Snell, a Can of Estrella Galicia and bowl of olives from Bar 44, Glass of prosecco at Gin 64, Sun Glasses at Funky Monkey and Lou's and a bacon or sausage sandwich and hot drink and Wilmore's 1938.
