Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) will be hosting a number of free online sessions for residents of the Vale to find out more and ask questions about volunteering.
In a post on their website advertising the sessions, GVS shared the benefits of volunteering, saying:
“Volunteering can be one of the most fulfilling things you can do with your time. As well as making a real difference to the organisation you are helping, you can build your skills, meet new friends and open your eyes to a whole new world.”
The Zoom-based online sessions will be hosted by GVS Volunteering expert, Janine, who will be on hand to answer any questions and share information on how residents of the Vale can get into volunteering, develop new skills, build confidence and foster friendships.
Sessions are free of charge and will be held on the following dates:
The sessions are taking place during Volunteers’ Week, a nationally recognised event that aims to recognise and celebrate the work of volunteers in the UK. Volunteers’ Week 2021, the 37th-annual event of its kind, is taking place between the 1st and 7th of June and is, according to the movement’s official website, “a time to say thanks”. A post on the website elaborates on this, saying:
“It goes without saying that volunteers have played a key role in the pandemic response. During an exceptionally difficult year, people from all walks of life around the UK have taken the time to volunteer and make a huge difference to their communities – just as they do every year. This is a time for us to come together and thank all volunteers for their invaluable contribution.”
