Two local girls attend Barry Police station following Barry Island Graffiti

A number of businesses on Barry Island were sprayed with graffiti on the weekend, causing inconvenience and cost to local traders at the resort.

Two young girls were caught on CCTV at approximately 4:30am on Sunday morning, spraying a number of businesses including Barry Island Pleasure Park, Coastal Coffee, Gianni's and Barry Island Arcades.

Coastal Coffee was one of the businesses temporarily affected by the graffiti

In a statement released on Tuesday morning a police spokesperson said "We were made aware that numerous properties on Barry Island were sprayed with graffiti at the weekend."

"Two local girls aged 15 and 14 have since attended Barry Police Station with their parents to discuss the incident."

"They stated that they found the spray cans and that they were sorry for what they did."

"Officers will be visiting vendors on Barry Island to establish exactly how many victims there have been and how they would like the matter to be progressed."

All graffiti has now been removed by local traders and the Vale of Glamorgan Council cleansing team.

The incident follows the "Soso" graffiti artist apologising after causing considerable expense across Barry and Penarth.
