Vale AM Jane Hutt met with Lloyds Bank Area Director, Matthew Thomas on Monday to discuss plans to close the branch in Cowbridge.
At the end of January, it was announced that Lloyds Banking Group planned to shut 56 of its local branches, including in Cowbridge.
During the announcement, it said 31 Lloyds, 10 Halifax and 15 Bank of Scotland Branches will close across the UK as fewer customers choose to bank in stores.
During their meeting on Monday 10th January, Jane raised her concerns about the customers who depend on the bank, especially elderly people and rural businesses, and raised representations she had received from the Cowbridge Chamber of Trade, and Farmers.
Jane Hutt said: "Lloyds Bank has been a prominent feature of the Cowbridge High Street, and I have expressed my deep opposition to the closure, alongside the opposition of many local residents and organisations. Many people in Cowbridge depend on this branch and the closure will be incredibly detrimental"
Lloyds Bank has confirmed that bank branches, including Lloyds in Cowbridge will close between April and October 2020.
